ABOUT SCOTT ILGENFRITZ

Scott obtained his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1979, cum laude, and his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1983, with honors. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Scott was an English teacher and football coach at private high schools in Rome, Georgia and Tampa, Florida before he attended law school. While attending the University of
Florida Levin College of Law, Scott was a member of the Florida Law Review and served as an Executive Editor of the Law Review. He graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in the top 10% of his class.

Scott was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1984. Scott is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Middle District and Southern District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 1997, Scott became certified by The Florida Bar as a Business Litigation Specialist. Seven percent of Florida Bar members are board certified in a specialty field of law.

In 1999, Scott received an AV rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. An AV rating is the highest peer reviewed rating available for professional excellence and legal expertise, communication skills, and ethical standards.

In 2012, Scott was peer selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of commercial litigation, and since 2013, he has been peer selected in the practice areas of commercial litigation, litigation-securities, and litigation-trust and estates. In both 2020 and 2024, Scott was peer selected as the Lawyer of the Year in the practice area of litigation-securities in Tampa, Florida.

Scott has been recognized as a Florida Super Lawyer for the years 2006 through 2014, 2024, and 2025.

Scott is a former member of the Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (“PIABA”). He served as a member of the Board of Directors of PIABA from 2008-2017. He served as President of PIABA for a one-year term in 2012 and 2013.

In 2024, Scott was certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator. Scott is a member of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators.
